Reading the table
Per user. Seven of the ten charge for logins, some after a few are included, so the bill grows each time you add a fitter or someone in the office. For one or two people it is often the cheapest way to buy. At ten people the same products cost between £164 and £562 a month.
By jobs. ServiceM8 lets everyone in and counts jobs instead. If your work is a few large jobs a month, such as fitted kitchens or bathrooms, ten people can run on its £25 plan. If your work is many short visits, the same team needs the £59 or £119 plan.
One price for the company. Psalm charges £39 a month for up to three people and £99 for up to fifteen, with no limit on jobs. TradeMore's bundles work the same way at £200 for four users and £520 for fifteen.
For three people, ServiceM8 at £25 costs less than Psalm at £39 if you do 50 jobs a month or fewer. For ten people, ServiceM8 costs less than Psalm's £99 up to 150 jobs a month, and more beyond that. Someone working alone can use ServiceM8's free plan or TradeMore's, and Psalm has no free plan. Against the seven tools that charge for logins, Psalm costs less at three people and at ten.
Fair is fair
Price is one question. What the software is built to do is the other. Each of these does something Psalm does not, taken from what its own page lists.
Choose it if your days are many short visits: call outs, servicing, repairs. Every plan has job cards, scheduling, online booking and card payment on site, and because it counts jobs and not people, a small crew pays very little.
Choose it if you are one or two people who want quoting, job scheduling and invoicing in one plan, with card payments and a link to Xero or QuickBooks. Its trial runs for 30 days.
Choose it if you are a UK worktop or stone fabricator and want to draw the layout on screen. Its Quote Studio draws and prices worktop layouts, holds slabs from the quote and raises purchase orders in one click, and its trial stays free until your first real job is done.
Choose it if you send people out to site and want to see where they are. It lists scheduling with GPS tracking and a map view, and its Ultimate plan adds forms, stock, assets, service contracts and timesheets.
Choose it if your trade runs on certificates. From its Professional plan it lists compliance certificates, including electrical certificates, with VAT returns sent to HMRC, and every plan has Making Tax Digital built in.
Choose it if you want one job management app with a sync to Xero, Sage or QuickBooks on every plan, timesheets and subcontractor scheduling from Pro, and purchase orders on Plus, and your team is small enough that a price per user stays low.
Choose it if you run maintenance contracts with engineers in the field. Its own page describes it as software for reactive and planned maintenance, with an engineer app and asset management in the Standard plan.
Choose it if you work alone and want quoting and invoicing on a free plan, or if you want an AI receptionist answering your calls, which its paid plans include.
Choose it if you design or renovate homes and want estimates, invoicing and a 3D floor planner beside a profile on Houzz.
Where Psalm fits
Psalm is built for businesses that win work on a quotation: fabricators, kitchen and bathroom fitters, joiners. Enquiries sit on one board. The quotation opens on your customer's phone with a button to accept. The order splits into the deposit and the balance, each with its date, and Psalm tells you who still owes you. Invoices, stock, purchase orders and the team's calendar and chat are in the same place, at one price for the company.
Fourteen days free, with no card. If you do nothing at the end, nothing is charged. See what each Psalm plan includes.
